Marilyn Elizabeth Godfrey, 83, of Marengo died Friday August 18, 2017 at Fox Point Manor Nursing Home in McHenry.
She was born in Chicago on August 11, 1934 to Walter and Isabel (Duncan) Gunderman. She married William Godfrey on January 29, 1955.
For many years she volunteered at The Salvation Army. She loved antiques and enjoyed buying and selling them. She enjoyed traveling all over the country with William. She was an avid bird watcher. She loved cooking for her family. And loved her pets. She was loved and will be missed.
She is survived by her husband William; 2 sons, Terry D. (Kim Biehl) Godfrey and Larry S. (Peggy) Godfrey; a daughter, Beth (Rodger) Larson; 2 grandchildren, William (Jane O’Brien) Godfrey and Amanda (Casey) Truelove; 2 great grandchildren, Miriam and Catherine Truelove.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial gathering will be held Tuesday August 22, 2017 at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin and Cooney Funeral Home starting at 1 pm with the memorial service at 2:30 pm.
No flowers are requested memorials can be made to The Salvation Army or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
