Kurt R. Maas

Kurt R. Maas, 71 of Woodstock, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Valley Hi Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Chicago on April 26, 1946 to Theodore and Doris (Lehman) Mass.  He was baptized in 1946 at St. Stevens Lutheran Church in Chicago.  He was confirmed in 1960 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brookfield.  Kurt joined the Marine Corps in 1964 serving two tours of duty in Vietnam.  After three years of service, Kurt returned home and received his Highschool Diploma from Riverside Brookfield High School.  He owned and operated a very successful nursery and landscaping business for many years.  On February 25, 1995, he married the love of his life, Jane Stack.  Kurt spent his later years working in the Real Estate industry.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Maas; his children, Ronald Maas and Khristy Lester; his twin sister, Karren (Rev. Paul) Krause; his nephew, Joel (Michelle) Krause; their children, Micah and Hannah; as well as Jane’s entire family, all the Bergums and Stacks.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 4-8pm at the Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave. in Woodstock.  The visitation will continue on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am at the Funeral Home.  Interment services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Valley Hi Nursing Home, or to the Vietnam Veterans of America.
