He was born in Carpentersville on September 20, 1923 to Guy and Betty (Umathum) Knapp.  He attended Woodstock Highschool until age 17 when he was recruited for military service.  Forrest was part of the Army Air Corps and stationed in Hawaii serving two tours until he returned on March 6, 1946.

He is survived by his son, Richard (Teresia) Knapp; his grandchildren, Patrick Adcock, Shannon Adcock, and David Adcock; and his great grandchildren, Savannah Adcock, Mikayla Adcock, and Dylan Faughn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillian Knapp; his brother, Robert Knapp; and his sister, Jean Hauser.
