Elaine L. Steinwehe

Elaine L. Steinwehe, 83, of Woodstock, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Centegra Hospital McHenry.

She was born January 12, 1934 in Woodstock to Louis and Esther (Hermanson) Stieg.  She married her husband of 61 years, Robert “Dutch” Steinwehe on September 24, 1955 in Woodstock.

Elaine was a longtime member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock.  She attended Rush – Copley Nursing College in Aurora.  Elaine received her nursing degree and went to work in a career that she loved, nursing.  She loved being a nurse because she loved to help others.  She always put others needs before her own.  She loved to travel, enjoying trips to Hawaii and other destinations.  Cruises were her favorite, and a great source of joy and fun.  Elaine could enjoy a good cup of coffee as well as a good glass of wine.

She is survived by her husband, Dutch Steinwehe of Woodstock; a daughter, Renee (Brian) Trei of Charlotte, NC; a son, Keith Steinwehe of Woodstock; and two grandchildren, Alexander and Nicholas Trei.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Russ Stieg.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the Grace Lutheran Church, 1300 Kishwaukee valley Road in Woodtock from 9:30 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow in the McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery in Woodstock.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock.
