Chester B. Zyskowski 89, of Woodstock died Saturday July 15, 2017 peacefully in his sleep.

He was born in Chicago on May 14, 1928 to Nikodem and Cecilia (Grabowski) Zyskowski. He married Jean Sochacki on October 8, 1955.

Chester went to parochial school at St. Bruno in Chicago, then went to St. Rita High School.  He then served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during The Korean conflict.  He graduated from Ferris College earning his BS. and R.Ph. Certification.   He managed the Pharmacy in the K-Mart store in Woodstock for many years. Chester was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock.  Before moving to the Woodstock area he served as president of the home owners association at Foster Harlem in Chicago. He was a member of the P.A.P.A., also the Woodstock Moose where for many years he called the bingo games, Chet was also an active member of the Woodstock VFW. He volunteered for many years at Meals on Wheels. He worked to bring Dick Tracy Days Celebration back to Woodstock. He was a contestant on the TV show Wheel of Fortune and of course an avid Cubs fan!  He was loved and will be missed.

He is survived by his wife of 61 loving years Jean; 2 sons Cliff (Becky) and Phillip (Jean) Zyskowski; a daughter Judith Marie Zyskowski; 6 grandchildren Jared (Lisa) Zystro, Mindy, Joseph, Nicholas, Sam and Jackson; also 1 great grandchild Toby Zystro.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Diane; 2 brothers Cornelius (Joe) and Stanley (Edmund) 3 sisters Mary, Gertrude and Cecilia.

Visitation will be at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home 1211 N. Seminary Ave. Woodstock on Tuesday July 18, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a liturgical wake service at 7:00. The funeral mass will be Wednesday July 19, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church 312 Lincoln Ave. Woodstock at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice Illinois.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Woodstock VFW would be appreciated.
